SKH Ling Oi Primary School provides phonics lessons to all students in J.3 (Phonics skills are incorporated into Space Town lessons for J.1 and J.2). These lessons, delivered by a Native English Teacher, systematically teach individual sounds, before blending and segmenting skills are introduced. Phonics skills enable J.3 students to:

• identify and recall a further 24 sounds including diagraphs and trigraphs
• develop and practise blending and segmenting skills to become independent readers and writers
